| 12 February 2010 Foreign Minister of Belarus Sergei Martynov will pay a working visit to the Republic of Poland on 11-12 February. Sergei Martynov is set to hold talks with his Polish counterpart Radoslaw Sikorski to discuss topical issues of the Belarus-Poland cooperation and the Belarus-EU dialogue. The foreign ministers of Belarus and Poland are expected to sign an intergovernmental agreement regulating travels of citizens of frontier regions. Under the agreement, cross-border procedures will be eased for Belarusian and Polish citizens who have permanently resided in the frontier regions for at least three years. These citizens will also be able to stay in the frontier regions of the other state up to 90 days within half a year. Frontier regions are the administrative territories located within up to 50 kilometers from the Belarusian-Polish border. This will be the first agreement of this kind Belarus signed with the neighboring EU states. It will be a considerable step to liberalize the visa regime with the countries of the Schengen Area.
