| To increase integration possibilities for recognised refugees, on 25 February 2004, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a Plan of Actions on Facilitation Refugee Integration into Ukrainian Society. The Plan foresees to improve national legislation, undertake practical measures, and promote international co-operation.
By mid-2004, legislative acts regulating employment, education and medical assistance should include refugees and asylum seekers amongst their beneficiaries. Accordingly, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a Resolution on Introduction of Amendments to the Procedure for Granting Refugees Financial Aid and Pensions, while a Resolution on Procedure for Education of Refugees and Asylum Seekers Admitted into the refugee status determination procedure in Ukraine is pending. Each ministry involved is tasked with implementing practical measures, such as refugee accommodation and adaptation issues, internal and travel documents, employment and social benefits, etc. Since June, the State Committee for Nationalities and Migration implements its Procedure for Exchange of the Old Specimen of the Internal Refugee Certificates into the New Ones and issues Refugee (Convention) Travel Documents. |
