On 14 January 2010 the Acting Head of the EU Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine (EUBAM), Mr. Udo Burkholder, met with the newly appointed Head of Moldovan Border Guard Service, Mr. Alexei Roibu, and Head of Customs Service, Mr. Tudor Balitchi. At meetings held in the Head Quarters of the Border Guard and Customs Services, Mr. Burkholder greeted the new Heads and wished them success in their new roles. He also presented the Mission’s activities and future cooperation plans. Participants emphasized the importance of EUBAM’s presence at the Moldovan-Ukrainian border and its contribution to the development of the partner services in Moldova. EUBAM will continue its work on facilitating interagency contacts, legitimate trade and security in the region in support of the border guard and customs services of Moldova and Ukraine.
