Meeting of the Council of Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and Poland

On December 16, 2009 the second meeting of the Council of Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and Poland took place. The meeting was chaired by Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Poroshenko and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Poland Sikorski.

In the course of the meeting the parties focused primarily on the pertinent issues of international cooperation, regional policy, European and Euro-Atlantic integration, as well as on issues of bilateral cooperation.

Concerning European integration the parties exchange their opinions about the results of the last Ukraine-EU summit and the process of implementation of the EU’s Treaty of Lisbon. The parties agreed to strengthen cooperation in the context of the process of negotiation of the Agreement on Association, in particular relating to the establishment of the free trade area and initiation of the dialogue on visa-free regime. The Ukrainian party submitted to the Polish party its position papers on the said issues for consideration. The parties also agreed to hold a round of bilateral consultations on Eastern Partnership on December 17 this year in Kyiv.
