A number of multilateral agreements on cooperation in anti-criminal activities was signed on 4 June 2009 in Yalta, during a regular meeting of the CIS Council of Ministers of Internal Affairs. In particular, delegation heads approved decisions on joint preventive measures for counteraction to new forms of crime related to use of novel information technologies. Besides, they signed a document on development of interaction in the fight against illegal drug trafficking. In addition, the meeting considered an agreement on cooperation in the fight against human trafficking and in legal provision. Within the framework of the meeting, Ministers of Internal Affairs Yuriy Lutsenko of Ukraine and Rafid Nurgaliyev of the Russian Federation signed a bilateral Agreement on Cooperation. Commenting on signature of the document, Rafid Nurgaliyev noted: - Our work is the result on which our nations appraise our activities. There are some issues needing intensification, which we can solve only together. During the financial and economic crisis, we have a lot of questions related to infringement upon financial and economic interests of Ukraine and Russia – smuggling, infringements upon financial structure, etc. Yuriy Lutsenko emphasized in the course of signing: - We have long-standing relations with our Russian colleagues. Recently, we signed the updated major agreement between the ministries of internal affairs of our countries because the previous agreement was signed as far back as in 1992. Our cooperation has considerably strengthened and become more substantive over the years.
