| 15 December 2008 On the 15th of December Mr Valeriu Ostalep, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, had a meeting with a delegation of the Seim of the Republic of Latvia, headed by Mr Aleksandrs Golubovs, Chairman of the Parliamentary Group of Friendship with Moldova. During the discussions the sides highlighted the intensity of the bilateral Moldovan-Latvian relations at different levels and the Deputy Minister mentioned that Latvia has always been an important partner of the Republic of Moldova, offering also support to the Moldovan efforts to comply with European standards. Latvia has a rich experience in the European integration process and shares it willingly with our country. A special attention went to the facilitation of the visa regime with the EU subject. Mr Valeriu Ostalep referred to the necessity of simplifying the procedures of visa issuing for the Moldovan citizens and to the wish of the Moldovan side to hold a more dynamic and concrete dialogue with the EU states at this matter. According to the bilateral cooperation schedule, in January 2009 there will take place consultations between the MFAEI of the Republic of Moldova and the MFA of the Republic of Latvia.
