| 10 December 2008 The Government of Ukraine has approved in its meeting a draft Law of Ukraine on the Concept of the State Migration Policy. The Concept aims to secure efficient public administration of migration processes, provide conditions for sustainable demographic and socioeconomic development of the country, and increase the level of national security. Implementation of the provisions of the Concept assumes improving legislation on migration in accordance with universally recognized principles and standards of international law, promoting social protection of Ukrainian nationals working abroad, and strengthening counteraction to illegal migration. According to the Concept, it is also planned to establish a common computer-aided information system for recording and analysis of migration flows, assuming that the right to confidentiality of personal information and privacy will be secured in the system.
