| 6 November 2008 Mr. Gunnar Wiegand, who has been recently appointed as Director of the Directorate for Eastern Europe, Southern Caucasus and Central Asian Republics of the External Relations Directorate of the European Commission (RELEX), will visit Ukraine on 6 and 7 November. The main objective of his visit is to discuss the state of play and future developments of EU-Ukraine relations while establishing close working contacts with a broad range of Ukrainian counterparts and interlocutors. To this aim, Mr Wiegand will meet with high level Ukrainian authorities from the Cabinet of Ministers, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Verkhovna Rada and the Presidential Secretariat as well as with representatives of the civil society.
