Belarus, Austria to hold first conference on consular issues

The possibility to simplify the entry of the Belarusian citizens to Austria and the European Union has been discussed at the conference between the foreign ministries of the two countries in Vienna on October 31. The discussions were initiated by the Belarusian side. “An agreement was reached on the additional and more thorough consideration of this issue at the Belarusian-Austrian conference on the consular issues scheduled for November 2008.

The Belarusian delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus Valery Voronetsky; the Austrian delegation was headed by Political Director of the Austrian Foreign Ministry Thomas Mayr-Harting.

The sides considered a whole range of issues regarding the Belarusian-Austrian cooperation and their interaction within interregional and international organizations.

“The sides praised the state of the Belarusian-Austrian relations in the trade, economic, investment, educational and humanitarian areas. The heads of the delegations pointed out the positive trends of the bilateral cooperation in the political area and shared their views on the ways to step up the dialogue with a view to building up the constructive and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries” the Foreign Ministry underlined.
