| Representatives of the State Border Committee of Belarus took part in the Ferocious Falcon exercise in Qatar on October 11-22, BelTA learnt from Boris Kazakov, Head of the Radiation, Chemical and Biological Protection Office of the Border Service Agency of the State Border Committee of Belarus. The exercise was supposed to train actions of a multinational taskforce during liquidation of consequences of weapons of mass destruction and terrorist attacks. The command post part of the exercise took place on October 14-16. During the phase the application of the multinational taskforce was planned. During the active phase of the exercise (October 19-20) practical actions were taken to repulse missile attacks, counteract terrorist units, and liquidate WMD application consequences, emergencies at chemical and radiation-hazardous enterprises. The Belarusian officers were used in the prevention of illegal transportation of radioactive materials via the state border, radiation reconnaissance, definition of the radioactive pollution levels and identification of pollutants, provision of medical aid to radiation-affected people, release of hostages, and neutralisation of terrorist units at nuclear power facilities. The exercise also involved units of the armed forces of Bangladesh, Kuwait, the UAE, Oman, the USA, Sudan, and Germany. Observers were represented by Azerbaijan, the UK, Venezuela, Iraq, Italy, Lebanon, Pakistan, and France.
