Meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova with the Minister of Internal Affairs of Slovenia

20 of October 2008, Mr. Andrei Stratan, Deputy Prime-minister, , had a meeting with Mr. Dragutin Mate, Minister of Internal Affairs of Slovenia, who is having a working visit in the Republic of Moldova on the invitation of the Moldovan side.

During the meeting, Mr. Andrei Stratan highly appreciated the cooperation with Slovenia in the field of justice and home affairs, especially by Slovenian participation at the Common Visa Application Centre in Chisinau, an undertaken experience by Montenegro where under the auspice of the Slovenia, a similar Visa Centre was inaugurated. Another important project launched with the support of Slovenia as a Presidency to the European Union is the Mobility Partnership between Moldova and EU, signed on 5th of June 2008 in Luxemburg, and which has been officially launched on the 23rd of October in Chisinau.

Slovenian Minister of Interior welcomed the n initiatives in harmonizing national standards on justice and home affairs to European standards, especially from the visa liberalization perspective with EU. Mr. Dragutin Mate highlighted the necessity of consolidating the bilateral and regional cooperation in the field of combating trafficking of human beings, drugs and organized crime between South-Eastern countries, by valuing the existent regional commitments (SECI), as well the offered instruments of the Convention on Police Cooperation in South-Eastern Europe.

A special attention during the discussions was given the activity of the EUBAM Mission, as well its impact on the settlement process of the transdniestrian problem.
