Belarus makes considerable efforts to fight against human trafficking

Belarus makes considerable efforts to fight against human trafficking. The Belarusian side stated this during the 4th session of the Conference of participants of the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (Palermo Convention).

The Conference is being held in the United Nations Office in Vienna. The Belarusian delegation is led by Permanent Representative of Belarus in international organizations in Vienna Alexander Sychev.

During the discussion, the Belarusian side highlighted the problem of the fight against human trafficking. Participants of the session were informed about the draft resolution on the better coordination of efforts in human trafficking prevention which was initiated by Belarus at the 63rd session of the UN General Assembly (GA). Belarus urged the UN member states to support this initiative. The Belarusian side also informed the participants of the conference about the work on harmonizing the national legislation in line with the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime.

During the session the Belarusian side is expected to participate in the expert consultations dedicated to the fight against human trafficking where it will inform the participants of the forum about the measures taken by the Belarusian Government in this area.
