| During his work visit to Stockholm on October 1st 2008, Mr. Valeriu Ostalep, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova had a meeting with his Swedish counterpart, Mr. Bjorn Lyrvall, General Director for Political Affairs from the Ministry of Foreign of the Kingdom of Sweden. The main accent of the theme dedicated to the Moldovan-Swedish relations has been placed on the subject related to the “Eastern Partnership” project, which represents a common Polish-Swedish initiative, oriented towards creating additional opportunities of support to the reform processes unfolded in the Eastern neighborhood of the European Union. During the consultations in Stockholm, the Moldova’s opinion on the valorization of the Eastern Partnership was brought to the Swedish part. Mr. Valeriu Ostalep has expressed his gratitude to the hostesses for the association of Sweden to the Partnership of Mobility between the European Union and the Republic of Moldova, which has as a purpose contribution to improving the national capacities of administering the migration flow and implementing new profile programs in the process of European integration of the country. The Swedish official has reconfirmed that his country will continue to support the efforts of the Republic of Moldova for alignment tot the European standards and of intensification of the relations with EU, inclusive during the period of holding the presidency of EU by Sweden in the second half of the next year.
