Second Steering Committee Meeting

The second Steering Committee meeting took place on 15 October 2003 in the SMB office in Norrköping, Sweden.

The Steering Committee evaluated the activities carried out by the Secretariat since its establishment in May 2003. These activities included:

• providing support in organising two cluster conferences and a senior level review meeting;
• holding round tables for governmental and non-governmental organisations in Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine;
• publishing the first issue of the CBCP newsletter and Kyiv Conference materials;
• addressing various requests for information from governments and NGOs, disseminating information on funding opportunities, creating a regional network of experts; and
• undertaking analyses of various co-operation mechanisms existing in the region.

The work plan of the Secretariat was approved with some modifications, however it will remain as document to be reviewed at each Steering Committee meeting.

The Steering Committee looked further into the issue of extending the project beyond April 2004. An application for funding both for the Söderköping process and CBCP Secretariat submitted to the EC by the SMB was discussed. The members of the Committee also discussed the preparations for the Senior Level Review Meeting of the Söderköping process, which followed the day after.
