EU working group has aproved Estonian land border in the repeated evaluation. The positive evaluation states, that the currect personell of the borderguards is not a barrier for the border security. Talks on possible postponement of Estonia joining Schengen due to the lack of borderguards were not granted. Estonian BG will still need to increase the number of border guards on their border with Russia, as well as to concentrate on following changes in airports and sea ports. Later in September Estonia will have Schengen information systems evaluation and repeated Tallinn airport evaluation. If all requirements will be fulfilled Estonia could join Schengen as of January 2008.
