1 billion euros for border management in Ukraine

On 13 June the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a "State Special Purpose Law Enforcement Programme for the establishment and reconstruction of the state border' amounting to 7 billion UAH (till 2015).

This money is supposed to come from the state budget (5.5 billion UAH), local budgets (181 million), central authorities as well as Border Guards (582 million) and international technical aid from the EU and USA (727 million UAH).

The objective of the Programme is to enhance border management (integrated border management) and to set up over 262 new border checkpoints and reconstruct 123 existing checkpoints.
