| 21 May 2007 Reinforcing cooperation in regulation of migration and freedom of circulation will be one of Moldova’s priorities during holding the chairmanship within the South East Europe Cooperation Process (SEECP) in 2008-2009. Statements to this effect were made in Salzburg, Austria by Moldovan Deputy Foreign and European Integration Valeriu Ostalep, who participates in the high-level Conference, Migration - Integration and Visions for European Policy. According to the Foreign Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service, Valeriu Ostalep has unveiled Moldova’s advancements in the field of security policy and migration since 2005, after signing the EU-Moldova Action Plan. The official said that on the basis of this plan there were created mechanisms for strengthening the national system of regulation of migration, which offer new cooperation opportunities in regulating the migration flows and preventing the illegal migration between Moldova and the EU member states. At the same time, the MAEIE informs that, taking into account the importance of regulating and keeping the record of migration flows in the European area, the Moldovan authorities jointly with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) promote the launch of a national project. The migration and circulation of people are the key-subjects of the Moldovan-EU agenda. Thus, there will be soon signed the agreement on simplifying the issue of visas and the agreement on readmission of people which, on one hand, facilitates the Moldovan citizens travels in the EU area, and, on the other hand, set a new joint mechanism that will allow the EU-Moldova cooperation in preventing and fighting the illegal migration. The conference is organized by the European Forum Alpbach in cooperation with the IOM Office in Vienna. The conference’s goal is to define the migration in Europe under all its aspects. After signing the EU-Moldova Action Plan, the National Migration Bureau was reorganized, there was set a governmental commission specialized in migration. At present, there is being carried out the National Program of Actions in Migration and Asylum.
