Latvia approves SIS

Latvian Cabinet of Ministers has aproved the Schengen Information Systems activity law, that prescribes maintenance and usage of Schengen Information System (SIS) and SIRENE system. It is planned that the law can be implemented as of September, 2007. The Cabinet also has adopted changes in the law, prescribing the order of foreigners detention, and placement in reception centre. Some changes are improving the rights of minors, and items prohibited to have at the centre. Finally, the persons with alternative status will receive a travel document, which will allow also to cross the borders. So far in Latvia there are 18 persons with alternative status.
