EUBAM extended cooperation with Ukraine

On 11 May 2007 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, a working meeting took place between the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs / Special Representative of Ukraine on settlement of Transdnistrian conflict, Mr. Veselovskyi and the Head of EUBAM Mission in Ukraine and Moldova, Mr. Banfi. During the meeting, Mr. Banfi expressed his gratitude for the approval (exchange of notes) of the agreement between Moldova and Ukraine on continuation of EUBAM mandate for the next two years (2008-2009). It was also discussed issues of cooperation in the field of improvement of cooperation between law-enforcement authorities of Ukraine and the EUBAM, implementation of trilateral agreements between Ukraine-Moldova-EC (reached in Brussels on 21 November 2006). Mr. Veselovskyi noted that Ukraine awaits for positive answer from the EC regarding facilitation in technical improvement of infrastructure at the Ukrainian-Moldovan border. Ukraine will continue to provide support to EUBAM which in turn will promote EU standards at the border management in Ukraine.
