The Latvian Border Guards are currently implementing a European Refugee Fund project "Practice and Methods of the Asylum Seekers Identification and Interviewing". The main goal of the project is to improve the asylum system in Latvia in line with EU standards and experience of selected member states. 4 study visits of BG officials to immigration services and reception centres in Spain and Poland are planned, as well as two seminars in Latvia, where experts from Spain and Sweden will participate. The total expenses of the project are 66464 EUR, of those 25% are funded by the State Border Guards budget. The time frame is 4 months - March 1 - June 30. The project manager is Ms. Renate Murane, chief inspector of Asylum seekers and analitical service of the Immigration Board of BG.
