Hungary organizes work of the Common Visa Center at the highest level

28 March 2007

Opening of a Common Visa Center in Chisinau was the main negotiating issue between Moldova’s Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev and Hungarian Ambassador to Moldova Mihai Bayer. Mihai Bayer welcomed development of cooperation relations between the countries and noted that Hungary was ready to apply every effort to organize the work of the Common Visa Center at the highest level. In the diplomat’s opinion, opening of the center having special authorities to liberalize visa regime between Moldova and the EU countries is a clear signal of support and solidarity on the European community’s part with Moldova’s European integration efforts. Vasile Tarlev highly appraised political dialog between the two countries and Hungary’s initiative to promote and secure opening of the Common Visa Center in Chisinau. The Premier confirmed that Moldovan authorities were ready to provide any support required to expedite opening and efficient work of the center, and came out for involving the highest possible number of countries in its activities.

In the context of meeting Moldova’s European aspirations, the Prime-Minister solicited for support from Hungary in obtaining Asymmetric Trade Preferences with the EU, signing a visa regime simplification agreement and an Association Agreement with the EU.
