Government of Ukraine approves programme to prevent human trafficking

On 7 March 2007, the Cabinet of Minister of Ukraine approved on a State Programme on prevention of human trafficking until 2010. The programme sets the framework of cooperation of central and state authorities, NGOs, public at large in setting up measures and conditions to prevent human trafficking. It envisages the improvement of legislation, raise of public awareness and effectiveness to fight human trafficking, proper coordination among law enforcement authorities, assistance to victims of trafficking. The implementation of the programme is entrusted to central and local authorities; the state budget allocations for implementation of the programme are expected at the amount of 1,5 mln. hryvnya.
