Ukraine considers EUBAM mission as factor to aid adjusting Transdnistrian conflict

On March 12-13, the 5th Steering Committee Meeting of the EU Border Assistance Mission to Ukraine and Moldova (EUBAM) took place in Odesa. The event involved participation of representatives of transborder services of Ukraine, Moldova and the EUBAM. Deputy Foreign Minister Andriy Veselovskyi highly evaluated EUBAM operation and stressed its significant role in fulfilment of the Euro-Integration strategy of Ukraine. Andriy Veselovskyi also noted that Ukraine considers an offer on prolongation of the EUBAM mandate for the next two years.

Head of the EUBAM Ferenc Banfi aired his report on returns of operation of the mission for the latest three months. The parties also agreed on participation of representatives of the Justice Ministry and the Prosecutor's General Office in further meetings. Ukraine believes the EUBAM aims at adjusting the Transdniestrian conflict and strengthening security and stability in the region.
