Session of the Bilateral Belarusian-Lithuanian Commission on Economic Cooperation

On 6 March the 12th Session of the Bilateral Belarusian-Lithuanian Commission on Economic Cooperation took place in Vilnius. The meeting gathered representatives of ministries of foreign affairs, border guard authorities from both countries and other interested bodies of public administration.

During the two days session the participants plan to discuss cooperation in ensuring the regime of local movemenet through the border. The European Parliament and the Council of Europe have recently approved the Regulations determining the rules of local movement through the EU-countries’ external land borders. When it is published the member-countries of the European Union will have to conclude agreements with the neighbouring countries to ensure the regime of local free movement at the borders.

Likewise, the delegates discussed the socioeconomic development in their countries, cooperation in the sphere of environmental protection and public health as well as fight against organized crime and ensuring border security.
