Steering Committee

With the establishment of the Cross-Border Co-operation / Söderköping Process Secretariat in May 2003, a Steering Committee was set up. The Steering Committee, which consisted of the European Commission (EC), the Swedish Migration Board, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugeesand the International Organization for Migration representatives, supervised the Secretariat’s activities and formulated strategies.

The EC project for the continuation of the Söderköping Process and the administration of the Secretariat, approved in May 2004, envisaged that the aforementioned Committee would be a steering mechanism both for the Secretariat and the process as a whole.

With the transformation of the Söderköping Process into a government-led initiative, the functions of the former Steering Committee has been transferred to the participating states and the Chair of the Process.
